2 April 2008 - Touch Bionics Appoints Head of Clinical Advocacy

Boston, MA and Livingston, Scotland – April 2, 2008 – Touch Bionics, developer of the i-LIMB Hand, the world’s first commercially available bionic hand with articulating fingers, today announced that it has hired Karl Lindborg, CPO, as the company’s Head of Clinical Advocacy.

Effective immediately, Lindborg will operate out of California, further strengthening Touch Bionics’ U.S. presence, with the company having recently expanded its sales, marketing, and support teams in the country.

As head of clinical advocacy, Lindborg’s role will be to provide clinical direction for the company in the areas of education and association relations, clinical compatibility of upper extremity systems, as well as public forums and clinical symposia. In addition, Lindborg will be the direct conduit into the company for the clinical community regarding questions, concerns and technical support. He will also support Touch Bionics’ product development activities.

“I am particularly impressed with the numerous anatomical degrees of freedom the i-LIMB Hand offers over other hands on the market today. This is what functionality is all about,” said Lindborg. “The i-LIMB Hand offers a level of flexibility and dexterity previously unavailable to the patient, Certified Prosthetist or Occupational Therapist working with upper extremity limb deficiencies. I look forward to being a member of the Touch Bionics team and clinically supporting its revolutionary products to fellow prosthetic clinicians and their patient population.”

Lindborg has more than a decade of experience as a clinician in the orthotics and prosthetics business, holding a variety of clinical and administrative positions in private clinical setting as well as public institutional settings. Mr. Lindborg is also very active with various political, technological and product development roles. Most recently, he was employed with the Department of Veteran Affairs as Chief of VA Northern California Health Care System’s Prosthetic and Orthotic Laboratory. Lindborg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in orthotics and prosthetics from the University of Washington School of Rehabilitation Medicine.
