P&O Associates is celebrating 20 years of providing prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation to residents of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountain region, in addition to patients from around the world, who are in need of the company’s unique combination of functional and aesthetic prosthetic restoration. The company is operated by American Board Certified staff with over 100 years of combined experience.

Tom Passero, CP, formed P&O Associates in 1989. At the time, Mr.Passero was the senior staff prosthetist at the Center for Rehabilitation Technology at Helen Hayes Hospital, but felt a growing desire to engage patients in a more intimate, private-practice setting. P&O Associates’ first clinic was opened in Middletown, New York, where the company’s headquarters remain.

P&O Associates’ clinical team offers comprehensive services in the complete spectrum of prosthetic rehabilitation. These services include a full range of body-powered and myoelectrically powered prostheses for the hand, arm, and shoulder, and all advanced types of socket fittings for the foot and leg, such as the anatomically designed method for above-knee amputees, and the TSB (Total Surface Bearing) and Silicone Suction Socket for below-knee amputees.

State-of-the-art components, such as hydraulic, pneumatic and microprocessor-controlled knees, are available, as well as lightweight flexible plastic sockets and various energy-storing feet. Prostheses can also be designed and fitted for specific activities, such as running, swimming, scuba diving, skiing or others.

When appearance is as important as function, whether for finger, hand or foot prostheses, the unparalleled realism of LIVINGSKIN, a life-like cosmesis solution developed by P&O Associates’ sister company, is used in order to meet the patient’s needs.

“Through our years of practice, we have successfully cared for many patients with upper extremity prosthetic needs. We are excited to partner with Touch Bionics to bring the i-LIMB Hand and its revolutionary technology to our patients. In every case, patients have reacted enthusiastically to the i-LIMB Hand and the possibilities it creates,” said Mr. Passero.
