Board of Directors
George has held senior management positions in manufacturing, operations, sales, marketing and general management in the Medical Devices Industry. He was with Ethicon for 33 years, appointed Managing Director of Ethicon Limited in 1988 and President of Ethicon Europe in 1996 until his retirement from Johnson & Johnson in 2002. George is Chairman of Surgeons Lodge Limited and former Chairman of Tayside Flow Technologies Limited and Nova Science Limited. He received the CBE in 1994 for Services to Industry and the Community in Scotland and was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2005.
Chief Executive Officer
Ian joined Touch Bionics in May 2011 from surgical medical device company Mpathy Medical where he had been CEO since 2007. Between 1998 and 2007 he was employed by Optos plc, a medical technology company specializing in the imaging of the retina, firstly in the roles of CFO in Dunfermline, UK, and then from 2003 as General Manager, North America in Boston, USA. Ian is a chartered accountant who had previously worked for KPMG in both Oxford, UK and Prague, Czech Republic. Ian holds a Masters degree in Economics from Edinburgh University.
Chief Financial Officer
Jill joined Touch Bionics after spending over six years with Optos, a medical technology company specializing in devices that image the retina, where she was Group Financial Controller and then Vice President and Director of Finance. Between 2000 and 2004, Jill was Financial Controller at Spider Software, a subsidiary of Artesyn Technologies Inc. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Jill spent eight years in London in various roles including Finance Manager at Wincanton and Commercial Analyst at Courage before moving to Singapore as Shared Service Centre Manager at Unisys.
Robert Pattullo, formerly of Archangel Informal Investment, is a Chartered Accountant and has been General Manager and Director of many different SMEs in the UK and Canada over the last 30 years. At Archangels, he was responsible primarily for monitoring the performance of the firm's portfolio companies on behalf of the Board. In addition to his role with Touch Bionics, he is also Vice-Chairman of Citizens Advice Edinburgh and a Director of Arrayjet and Vitrology.
Colin McGill is a Chartered Accountant and has held a number of Directorships and management positions at UK companies. He spent 25 years at Bank of Scotland, holding a variety of management positions, which culminated in his role as Chief Executive of the bank's Corporate Division. From 2000, Colin spent four years as Chief Executive of listed company Sportech PLC, overseeing the acquisition and restructuring of Littlewoods Leisure business. In addition to his role with Touch Bionics, he is also a Non-Executive Director with City Health Clinic Group and F&C Managed Portfolio Trust plc.
